Events

Thanks to the incoming students.

Altınbaş Polyphonic Choir performed at the Turkish-German Law Double Degree Program Graduation Ceremony held at Gayrettepe Campus on September 15th, 2018.

As of October 2018, Wing Chun classes are offered to students at Bakırköy   Health Sciences Campus and Mahmutbey Campus. Wing Chun classes are coordinated by Far East Sports Club.   

A World Cleanup Day event was held by a 10-person team of Altınbaş International Community in Beşiktaş on September 15th, 2018 with the aim of raise awareness for combating the global solid waste problem.

Academic Year 2018-2019 orientation days were held simultaneously in all three campuses on September 19th, 2018, 10.00am. President Çağrı Erhan delivered his orientation day speech at Mahmutbey Technology Campus, while it was available for watching live at Bakırköy and Gayrettepe Campuses. This year, as a first in Orientation Program, instead of university staff, university students have given presentations on life at the campus for the newcomers. 

As part of the Orientation Program, Politics and Diplomacy Club organized a Bosphorus Cruise for the newly admitted students on October 17th, 2018. Taking a ferry from Üsküdar pier a group of 200 students cruised on the blue waters of the Bosphorus while enjoying their Turkish-style bagels (simit) and a warm cup of Turkish tea.   

The first general board meeting of Academic Year 2018-2019 was held at Mahmutbey Campus on September 26th, 2018 with the participation of Health, Culture and Sports Office, Corporate Communications Department and 37 student clubs. The agenda of the meeting covered year-long activities, club rules and procedures as well as the club presidents’ requests and suggestions.

On October 6th, 2018, an on-site training and a public awareness event was held by Altınbaş Medical Students’ Association at Bakırköy Square to raise awareness for International Day of Charity. A team of 15 students have carried out public awareness activities comprising a public survey and the collection of survey results.

In an event held by Mechanical Engineers Club on October 2nd, 2018 at Mahmutbey Technology Campus Fatma Altınbaş Conference Hall, students were given insight to new industrial revolution, artificial intelligence, the use of emerging technologies in industry and their potential impacts on the future.

As part of the observance of World Animal Day, a sales event was held by the members of the Animal Rights Club at Mahmutbey Campus Building D on October 4th, 2019 with the purpose of raising public awareness for the status of animals and raising money to cover the needs (cat food, vaccination, neutering etc.) of stray cats on the campus.

Computer and Informatics Club visited the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) in Ankara on October 5-7, 2018 with the aim of keeping a closer track of the latest advancements in Turkish AI industry.    

On October 10th, 2018, a seminar titled “Health of Our Soul” was held by Altınbaş Medical Students’ Association at Bakırköy Health Sciences Campus Lecture Hall 402 with the participation of psychiatrist Dr. Ali Gök as guest speaker.

To celebrate the second edition of “Erasmus Days” European festival, simultaneous events in 20 different countries were held on October 12-13, 2018. These events offered opportunities to discover Erasmus+ programme and European Citizenship.

A Halloween Part was held by Altınbaş International Community at Mahmutbey Campus to get to enjoy the Halloween mood in Turkey as well and strengthen friendship between international and Turkish students.

An event held on October 22nd, 2018 in Gayrettepe Campus by Altınbaş International Law Club gathered Altınbaş University law students and the executive board members of the European Law Students' Association. Participated by Umut Albayrak, İrem Melengiç, Tayfun Yıldız, Cemre Ecem Eren, Mustafa Sinan Gürbüz, İlker Fatih Güler and Said Ahmet Topal, the event covered a presentation on ELSA International’s core rules and principles as well as the benefits for members.  

Erasmus Club participated in a meeting held at Maltepe University on October 26th, 2018. With its 42 branches, Erasmus Student Network Turkey operates as a member of Erasmus Student Network, Europe’s largest student community, to promote the Erasmus Programme all around Turkey. ESN Turkey meets with the university representatives to make an evaluation of the past processes and accept submissions for membership.  

A Rotaract publicity event was held at Bakırköy Campus on October 24th, 2018 under coordination of Medical Club. Attended by Galata Rotaract club members, the event covered a presentation to raise public awareness of breast cancer, and a pre-information seminar on how to fight against Polio and AIDS

A Breakfast event held by the AU Photography Club at Ataköy Marina on October 10th, 2018 was attended by 25 club members.

AU Dentistry Club set up a booth to promote the club and recruit new members at Bakırköy Campus Ground Floor foyer area on October 26th, 2018. The whole day was dedicated to new member recruitment

AU Music Club held a Nostalgic Rock Concert at Mahmutbey Campus Fatma Altınbaş Conference Hall on October 26th, 2018 where performers covered Anatolian rock songs from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s

Events and Excursions Club organised a get-together at Gayrettepe Campus on October 30th, 2018. Although the event didn’t last long as planned due to inconvenient weather conditions, students enjoyed meeting each other and the club!

On November 1-December 5, 2018, the Ice Break Winter Music Fest was held by the Events and Excursions Club at Gayrettepe Campus ground floor. Students set up a booth to sell tickets for a trip to Erzurum. Revenue raised from ticket sales was used for club budget and finances.

AU Dentistry Club held a Case Days event at Bakırköy Campus on November 7th, 2018 in order to provide students with detailed information on past cases.  Instructor Dr. Ata Nisa Çoban Kanyılmaz participated in the event as a guest speaker.  

Erasmus+ Club member İlayda Şanda attended SEEP Athens Piraeus’18 meeting on behalf of our university, held in Greece, Athens. As one of the ESN regional gatherings, the meeting welcomed the delegations from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Bosnia Herzegovina and Serbia while serving as a discussion/idea/information exchange platform for activities carried out as part of ESN and ESN International agendas. ESN Review, ESN Logo Update were also discussed during the meeting.  

25 members from AU Photography Club participated in a commemoration ceremony held for Mustafa Kemal Ataturk at Dolmabahçe Palace on November 10th, 2018. Having visited the palace after the conclusion of the ceremony, students had the opportunity to take numerous photographs. 

AU Pharmacy Club organised a visit to Ataturk’s Mausoleum in Ankara on December 1th, 2018.

The event held by AU Animal Rights Club comprised a visit by a 40-person team to Yedikule animal shelter in Fatih on Sunday, November 11th, 2019. 

Gastronomy Club organised an Italian Cuisine Workshop at Gayrettepe Campus’ culinary kitchen. The event took place on November 28th, 2018 with the participation of 20 persons where they were taught how to make lasagne and tiramisu.

A seminar on obesity and diabetes was held by Altınbaş Medical Students’ Association at Medeni Berk Elementary School on Thursday, November 15th, 2019. Elementary school students were given tangerines as a gift.  

A “Premature Babies Exhibition” was held by Altınbaş Medical Students’ Association at Bakırköy Campus, ground floor, foyer area, on Friday, November 16th, 219. Organised as part of World Prematurity Day observed on November 17 each year, the aim of the exhibition was to raise public awareness on the issues associated with preterm birth. Photos of premature babies then and now (of university staff and students who were born preterm) were displayed at the exhibition.

An event held by AU Fashion Club on November 22nd, 2018 at Gayrettepe Campus conference hall comprised a conference on the dialectics of fashion and cinema. Also attended by Ferhat Dumanlı and Esen Kunt, the conference was aimed at supporting fashion and film students’ interdisciplinary joint works.    

A publicity event was held by Altınbaş International Community in cooperation with AIESEC on November 27th, 2018 at Gayrettepe Campus to provide students with detailed information on Global Volunteer, Global Talent, Global Entrepreneur programs.

On November 10th, 2018, a group of 35 members from Ataturkist Thought Club visited Ataturk’s Mausoleum (Anıtkabir) in Ankara. Having joined the memorial ceremony held in Anıtkabir, club members then visited the First Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

A seminar was held by AU Pharmacy Club on November 16th, 2018 to raise awareness of wise use of antibiotics. Asst. Prof. Cansu Vatansever and Pharmacist Osman Asal Uçkunkaya delivered speeches at the seminar

On November 16th, 2018, a screening of “A Clockwork Orange” movie was held by AU Psychology Club at Gayrettepe Campus. The screening was followed by a student debate and analysis of the film.

Ultraslan Uni Student Club set up publicity booths in all three AU campuses to recruit new members. The recruitment events were held at Mahmutbey Campus, Mahmutbey Vocational School, Gayrettepe and Bakırköy, respectively on November 15, November 19, November 21 and November 23.

On November 20, 2018, AU Social Work Club organised a panel at Gayrettepe Campus Conference Hall to investigate the psychological, social and legal dimensions of child abuse and neglect and to raise public awareness of the issue. Clinical Psychologist Görkem Demirdöğer Güller and Atty. Cansu Şekerci delivered speeches at the panel.  

On November 22, 2018, a seminar was held by AU Psychology Club at Gayrettepe Campus to explain and discuss violence from a gender equality perspective and to learn about methods for violence victims to protect themselves from violence. Social Psychologist Duygu Buğa delivered a speech at the seminar.  

A film screening event was held by AU Gender Equality Club at the foyer area on November 26th, 2018 so as to raise public awareness for violence against women. Prior to the film screening, Simge Kaplan has delivered a speech on the importance of this special day.

On November 27th, 2018, AU Music Club hosted a live acoustic concert at Gayrettepe Campus Conference Hall to boost student motivation after the midterm exams.

AU Innovative Social Scientists Club set up a booth to promote the club and recruit new members at Gayrettepe and Mahmutbey Campuses on December 5th, 2018.

On December 3rd, 2018, members of Altınbaş Medical Students’ Association watched the movie “Patch Adams” at Bakırköy Campus Conference Hall. The film screening was followed by student commentaries on the film, a discussion on moral issues arising in medical practice, and a speech by Hanzade Doğan  A total of 30 participants were asked the complete a survey on the film.

AU Psychology Club held a seminar at Gayrettepe Campus on December 5th, 2018 with the aim of teaching future psychologists the approaches to be adopted when helping an abused child. Nurdan Beşer Büyükak delivered a speech at the seminar.

AU Social and Academic Development Club set up a booth to promote the club and recruit new members at Gayrettepe Campus, on December 6th, 2018, at Bakırköy Campus on December 7th, 2018, and at Mahmutbey Campus on December 10th, 2018.

Altınbaş University Law Club held a conference titled “Ban on FX Contracts and Practice Problems within the scope of Decree No. 32 on Protection of the Value of Turkish Currency”. The conference took place on December 6th, 2018 at Marmara University Law School.

A social awareness survey was conducted by Altinbaş Medical Students’ Association on December 7th, 2018 at Bakırköy Campus to raise public awareness for HIV and AIDS, and to provide the public with detailed information on HIV prevention. 

AU Red Crescent Club set up a booth to promote the club and recruit new members at Gayrettepe, Mahmutbey and Bakırköy Campuses on December 7th, 2018.

On December 12th, 2018, Psychology Club organised a seminar titled “Love, Attachment and Intimate Relationships” at Gayrettepe Campus with the participation of guest speaker Senior Psychologist Ersin Bayramkaya

On December 12th, 2018, Young Kadem Club organised a visit to Bahariye Mevlevi Lodge to watch a Whirling Dervishes live show.

Altınbaş Red Crescent Club held a blood donation event at Gayrettepe Campus foyer area on December 13th, 2018.

AU Music Club organised a New Year’s Eve concert at Mahmutbey Campus Fatma Altınbaş Conference Hall to boost student motivation before the New Year.

On December 14th, 2018, AU International Law Club organised a visit to Gökçe Law Firm to consult with attorneys specializing in maritime law.

On December 18th, 2018, a seminar was held by Altınbaş Fashion Club at Gayrettepe Campus Green Lecture Hall to introduce fashion and textile students to denim industry. Veysi Balin delivered a speech at the seminar.

At a New Year’s Party themed “No Obstacle to Fun!” held by AU Social and Academic Development Club on December 19th, 2018, Special Kids at Mavi Defne Special Education and Rehabilitation Centre and club members had a great time together, getting the motivation they need for the upcoming year.”

Turkish-German Attorneys Club held a get together event at Gayrettepe Campus on December 20, 2018 to introduce fellow students to German Culture and to promote double degree law program.

PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS EVENT WITH ALTINBAŞ MEDICAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION  

On December 21, 2018, Altınbaş University Students’ Association made a radio show to raise public awareness of HIV and how is HIV spread. Hasan Cem Sevindik, Nur Sedef Karadağ and Erkan Başa participated in the show as guest speakers.

In collaboration with ÇOTUN (an Istanbul-based association helping homeless), AU Psychology Club organised a charity event on December 23, 2018, involving handing out free soup to homeless.

On December 23, 2018, AU Data Science and Management Club held an event at İnegöl Beşinci Mevsim Cultural Centre.

On December 28, 2018, Altınbaş Medical Students ‘Association held seminar titled “Istanbul Medical Chamber: How does it operate? Advantages for Medical Students” Dr. Osman Öztürk, Secretary General of Istanbul Medical Chamber, has delivered a speech at the seminar.

On October 11, 2018, students considering a career in health sector attended a meeting held between Medicalpark administrators and Altınbaş University health clubs.

The construction seminar was held by AU Construction Club on October 11, 2018 at Mehmet Altınbaş Conference Room. Japanese master architect and civil engineer Yoshinori Moriwaki attended the seminar as guest speaker.  

A meeting with the top executives of Tezmaksan Group was held on October 19, 2018 with the participation of AU Engineering Club.

Altınbaş University Yeşilyurt Sports Club Women's Volleyball Team vs. Salihli Belediyespor Women's Volleyball Team took place on October 24th, 2018 with the participation of our students as supportive spectators.

AU Justice Club organised a school trip to the capital on October 25, 2018. The itinerary involved visits to Turkish Grand National Assembly Museum, Anıtkabir (Ataturk’s Mausoleum) and Presidential Complex; and meetings with the deputies. Giving positive feedback, students said that they the trip helped them to acquire experience for their future career planning and their areas of interest.

As part of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), AU Erasmus+ Club carries out various activities to promote the Erasmus Program in Turkey. In a meeting held on October 26-28, 2018, the club presented a report on its recent activities.

Currently working for Turkcell, former Oracle ERP consultant Fırat Güleç has participated in a seminar held by AU Computer and Informatics Club on November 1, 2018 at Mehmet Altınbaş Conference Room.

Co-Founder & CEO Şahin Çağlayan has participated in a seminar held by AU Computer and Informatics Club on November 13, 2018. The seminar covered theoretical knowledge on communication and network in IoT.

As part of Erasmus Students Network International “Social Inclusion” Days, “Wall-E” screening & discussion was held on November 23, 2018 to raise social awareness of nature and sustainable living.

The workshop held by Computer and Informatics Club on November 26, 2018 involved a 5-hour session with Gökhan Alpaslan, Co-founder and CEO of Birbilenesor. Mobile App Design 101 has also provided student with the opportunity to carry out practical application of mobile design using their personal computers.
