Single course exams will be held on June 8th, Thursday at 11:00 am. Students who have applied should be at room D200 before the exam.

Dr. Alper Kaliber from the Department of International Relations has co-edited a special issue with Dr. Senem Aydın-Düzgit (Istanbul Bilgi University) titled ‘Is Turkey De-Europeanising? Encounters with Europe in a Candidate Country’, which has been published in the latest issue of South European Society and Politics, an SSCI-indexed journal.  The articles in this special issue aims to explore the dynamics of Europeanization and/or de-Europeanization in different political actors (political parties, civil society organisations) and in a diversity of policy areas (media freedom, democracy and human rights, education policy, rule of law) in Turkey. In this special issue Dr. Kaliber authored an article titled ‘De-Europeanisation of Civil Society and Public Debates in Turkey: The Kurdish Question Revisited’. He also co-authored the introduction to the special issue with Dr. Senem Aydın-Düzgit.

The Jean Monnet Chair in Education in Diversity at the Department of International Relations at Istanbul Kemerburgaz University, with the financial support of the European Commission, will organize a conference on Migration between Turkey and the EU: Prospects for Intercultural Dialogue? The conference will discuss migration flows between Turkey and the EU in both directions, and will also specifically evaluate the recent refugee crisis.

While Professor Ayhan Kaya of Istanbul Bilgi University will evaluate the possibilities of integration of migrants in Turkey and the EU in the context of intercultural dialogue, Professor Ahmet İçduygu of Koç University will discuss the Syrian refugee crisis in the light of Turkey-EU relations. Professor and Jean Monnet Chairholder Bianca Kaiser of Istanbul Kemerburgaz University will moderate the conference.

The Jean Monnet Conference will be held in English and take place in Mehmet Altınbaş Conference Hall on Wednesday, 30 March 2016, from 13.30-15.30. All students and faculty are welcome.
