Historical Development



In our institution, council members were assigned to their positions on June 6th, 2011 and in the 2011-2012 academic year, the institution started to educate. By the 2011-2012 academic year, there has been two departments which are Basic English Department and Modern Languages Department. Assessment and Evaluation and Vocational Development units have been carrying on activities at both of the -departments since 2017-2018 academic year. Vocational development is described as a long process about our instructors and managers ability to deal with job related issues and to reach their goals; and it approaches to acts taken for continuous development in a reflective way.

Since there are opportunities to develop our skills, knowledge and perspectives at every point of our career, all the activities offered by Altınbaş University Vocational Development Unit are planned accordingly. In the Basic English Department, there is one academic coordinator for each level; in Modern Languages Department, for academic English lesson, one coordinator and for Turkish and second foreign languages, one coordinator. Turkish preparatory course, which opened in 2017-2018 academic year fall term, provides every student studying at Altınbaş University with an opportunity of learning Turkish from A1 level to B2 level for free of charge at Mahmutbey and Bakirkoy Campus. Each level was prepared considering the target language’s intensity and students’ needs. Based on this, students take about 170-200 classes in each module. The courses are prepared according to the Common European Framework (CEFR) and students’ reaching B2 level language proficiency to be able to get the certificate at the end of the program is the aim of the course.

Within the scope of Dual Degree Program with Köln University, a German Preparatory Class was established in 2017-2018 academic year. Within the bilateral agreement between Altınbaş University and Köln University, the German preparatory class forms a basis for academic achievement. In this context, our preparatory unit aims to develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, writing and interacting skills in accordance with the CEFR. After 1 year preparation program, after entering an exam called TestDAf and qualifying for the right to study abroad, students continue their education at Köln University.

With the accreditation services offered by the world’s leading education solutions company, Pearson, Altınbaş University Preparatory School Program and Academic English and Basic English courses offered to the faculties was proven to be at international quality standards on September 25th, 2017
