IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT THE FREE ELECTIVE COURSES FOR FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND NATURAL SCIENCES

The students who are studying in departments which are educating %100 English courses, should enroll in free elective courses which have English codes.

The ones who enrolled in “Turkish” coded courses should drop the courses and take the English ones instead.

The debt amounts of the students for Course Registration in the Spring Semester of 2016-2017 Academic Year are uploaded into the system. These amounts should be paid until the last day of the Add-Drop Period, 10th of February.

 

Unless the students complete their financial issues and get their financial approval; their courses for the Spring Term will be cancelled from the system.

The students, who have applied for the Supplementary Exam of the courses given by School of Foreign Languages, are  kindly required to be on Floor 9, Building A, on January 26, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. latest. The exams are going to start at 10:00 a.m. As the students are going to be accompanied by the invigilators to the exam rooms, they are kindly asked to be ready on Floor 9 on time. 

The deadlines and requirements for Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Study and Placement:

Requirements:

GPA (Grade Point Average): 2.30/4.0 Undergraduate, 2.50/4.0 Graduate

Documents:

  1.        Application form
  2.        Transcript of records including 2016-2017 Fall Semester
  3.        1 photograph

Important Notes:

  1.        The application documents should be submitted to the International Office until 22 February 2017 at 17:30. The application submission after the deadline will not be accepted.
  2.        The application form should be filled out on a computer.
  3.        Student can apply for Study and Placement Mobility at the same time. Study Mobility will be occured within 2017-2018 academic year, however Placement Mobility within 2016-2017 summer break.
  4.        The application form should be signed by the applicant and the academic staff both. The ones who sign the form in the departments for undergraduate and graduate students are Departmental Coordinators, for graduate students who are in dissertation stage are Thesis Advisor. The list of Erasmus Coordinators is shown at the bottom of this page
  5.        Indicating the medium of instruction of the selected universities on the application form  is mandatory. If the medium of instruction is not English, applicant will take the related language exam. In Istanbul Kemerburgaz University; English, Italian and German exams are available, however the other language proficiencies should be certified by the student with the minimum B1 level. The language exam dates and venue will be announced later on our website.
  6.        Erasmus exchange students who are currently studying abroad can also apply for Erasmus Study and Placement Mobility by sending their application documents via email to the International Office. The exchange ones who will be studying abroad in the exam date are also allowed to use their previous exam result and should submit this request with a signed petition.
  7.        Erasmus grant is only valid for the mobilities in the member countries of the European Union, however the ones occur in the program countries which are not the member of the EU (Iceland, Norway, Switzerland) and the third countries which are on the road to EU membership (Montenegro, Albania, and Serbia) are not granted.
  8.        Erasmus+ Information Session will be held on February 7, 2017 at 14:00 and February16, 2017 at 10:00 in the Fatma Altınbaş Conference Hall. Applicants can have more information on the Erasmus+ Program by attending this event.
  9.        The students with dissabilities can have extra grant in case of submitting the proof of their condition. For further details, please contact the International Office.

Due to adverse weather conditions, Exam Schedule has been revised as follows:

  1.      Exams that have been scheduled to be held on January 7, 2017 will be held on January 11, 2017. For exam hours and locations, please see attached.
  2.      Resit exams that have been scheduled to be held on January 11, 2017- January 18, 2017 will be held on January 13 – 20, 2017. For hours & locations, please see attached.
  3.      From now onwards, students will not be required to apply for entering resit exams. Students who are entitled to enter resit exams (those who have taken the respective course in fall term, and who do not fail for absence) may attend the resit examinations on the announced date & time.
  4.      Resit exam results will be announced on January 22, 2017.
  5.      Spring Term Class Enrollments that have been scheduled to open on January 16, 2017 will continue until January 25, 2017
  6.      Spring Semester classes will begin on January 30, 2017 as announced before.

Proficiency Test for Law and Dentistry students who received a conditional pass to their departments and for those who are studying B2 levek at the moment will be held on 20.12.2016 Tuesday. The exam starts at 09:30. However, all students are expected to be in exam rooms (which can be found in the document attached) at 09:00 latest with pencils and erasers. Please do not bring any mobile phones or any kind of watches to exam rooms. 

 

Faculty members of the Law School Assoc. Prof. Dr. Leyla Ateş and Research Assistant Burçak Bal Yalçın have started a EU Horizon 2020 granted project  entitled COFFERS. The Project’s total budget is around 5 million Euro and runs for three years. The Project aims to address international tax evasion and avoidance problem. APPLICATION FOR PART TIME WORKING PROGRAM

 

Applications for 2016-2017 academic year Part Time Working Program will be accepted between 20 – 30 September, 2016.

 

Students who will apply for the program should complete an application form and submit it to the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports (Building A, Ground Floor/ Room No.8).

 

Students of Vocational School and Vocational School of Health Services should submit their application forms to the relevant Directorates between the above mentioned dates.

 

Required qualifications for students who will apply to the program:

  1.       Being enrolled in a 4-year program
  2.       Having a GPA above 2.00
  3.       Not being subject to any disciplinary action
  4.       Not having any type of income (at minimum wage level), except orphan pension and maintenance payment
  5.       Not being on leave and being an active student

The first distance learning course of the Academic Year 2016-2017 Fall Semester will be prepared and videotaped by the instructors during the last week of September. After the add/drop period is over (in the beginning of October),  Distance Learning Centerwill provide students with their user names and passwords, which will allow registered students to keep track of their course history (for the courses they are enrolled in), by using their own usernames and passwords, and take their courses through video streaming and watch live classes as of October. Students will also be provided with a user manual along with their usernames and passwords before live classes begin.

CE100 Computing Skills Exemption Exam will be on September 24th, Saturday at Class B206 at the hours given in the attached list.

Please bring your ID card with you to the exam, students who does not have an ID card are not allowed to take the exam.

You should attend the exam at the hour given in the list for you; you may not attend the exam if you come at a different hour.

There will be shuttles between Yenibosna – Mahmutbey Campus on the exam day.

Summer school tuition fees are 594 TL (VAT included) per credit for undergraduates and 237,60 TL (VAT included) per credit for associate degrees for all students registered, approved and who has no financial HOLD! (tuition fee or debt hold). Payments can be made to the nearest branch of Denizbank with the student id number or TCIN (Turkish identity number) and are due between 10th to 24th of June, 2016. In case payments are not made, the courses taken by the student will be cancelled but recognized amount will be added to the students’ payment debts due to tuition fees.

Summer school starts on 13.06.2016, Monday. Summer school is free of charge and not compulsory. Those who failed the final exam will repeat the same level in summer school and those who passed the finals exam will go to upper level. Students who want to attend summer school don’t have to write a petition.

PREP 101 (elementary), PREP 102 (pre-intermediate) ve PREP 103 (intermediate) level students will sit the final exam on 26.05.2016, Thursday at 10:00 a.m in their regular classrooms. Those who’ll take the exam have to be in exam places with their ID cards at 09:30 a.m latest. 

PREP 104 and PRE105 students who are eligible for the proficiency exam have to be in their regular classrooms on 27.05.2016, Friday. The exam starts at 09:30 a.m. However, all students are expected to be in exam places at 09:00 a.m latest with their ID cards

 

  •          Be in your room 15 minutes before the starting hour.
  •          You are not allowed to share stationery.
  •          You are not allowed to use dictionaries.
  •          You cannot leave the exam room within the first 15 minutes of the 60 minutes exams and the first 30 minutes of 90 minutes exams.
  •          You cannot leave the room in the last 10 minutes.
  •          You will not be given extra time to transfer your answers to the optical answer sheet at the end of the exam.
  •          If you are late, you can enter the exam room only within the first 15 minutes of the 60 minutes exams and the first 30 minutes of 90 minutes exams.
  •          If you come late, you will not be given any extra time.
  •          If an optical answer sheet is being used, it is YOUR responsibility to fill it in correctly.

Deadline for withdrawal from courses is updated. Last day to withdraw is Monday, April 11, 2016.

Students who would like to withdraw from courses are required to submit withdrawal forms, which should be signed by their Advisors and the Professor who teaches the relevant course, to the Registrar’s Office no later than Monday, April 11, 2016, 5.00pm

  •          Be in your room 15 minutes before the starting hour.
  •          You are not allowed to share stationery.
  •          You are not allowed to use dictionaries.
  •          You cannot leave the exam room within the first 15 minutes of the 60 minutes exams and the first 30 minutes of 90 minutes exams.
  •          You cannot leave the room in the last 10 minutes.
  •          You will not be given extra time to transfer your answers to the optical answer sheet at the end of the exam.
  •          If you are late, you can enter the exam room only within the first 15 minutes of the 60 minutes exams and the first 30 minutes of 90 minutes exams.
  •          If you come late, you will not be given any extra time.
  •          If an optical answer sheet is being used, it is YOUR responsibility to fill it in correctly.

Due to the cancellation of exams to be held by the School of Foreign Languages on Sunday, March 20, the make-up exams for the cancelled exams will be held on Wednesday, March 23. All courses and mid-term exams on March 23 are postponed to a later date.

Erasmus+ Language Exam will be held on 14th March 2016 at between 9.30-12.30 a.m.

Applicants should be at the school in the early morning to learn the venue from the billboards in A block, -1 and 1st floor.

Course selection period for Spring Semester will begin on the following dates: for undergraduate students on January 16, 2017, for associate’s degree students on January 18, 2017 and for graduate students, course selection period will begin on January 23, 2017.

Application for Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Study and Placement

The deadlines and requirements for Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Study and Placement:

Application Deadline: 22 February 2017

Language Exam: 27 February 2017 (the venue and date will be announced later)

Requirements:

GPA (Grade Point Average): 2.30/4.0 Undergraduate, 2.50/4.0 Graduate

Documents:

  1.        Application form
  2.        Transcript of records including 2016-2017 Fall Semester
  3.        1 photograph

Important Notes:

  1.        The application documents should be submitted to the International Office until 22 February 2017 at 17:30. The application submission after the deadline will not be accepted.
  2.        The application form should be filled out on a computer.
  3.        Student can apply for Study and Placement Mobility at the same time. Study Mobility will be occured within 2017-2018 academic year, however Placement Mobility within 2016-2017 summer break.
  4.        The application form should be signed by the applicant and the academic staff both. The ones who sign the form in the departments for undergraduate and graduate students are Departmental Coordinators, for graduate students who are in dissertation stage are Thesis Advisor. The list of Erasmus Coordinators is shown at the bottom of this page.

  6.        Indicating the medium of instruction of the selected universities on the application form  is mandatory. If the medium of instruction is not English, applicant will take the related language exam. In Istanbul Kemerburgaz University; English, Italian and German exams are available, however the other language proficiencies should be certified by the student with the minimum B1 level. The language exam dates and venue will be announced later on our website.
  7.        Erasmus exchange students who are currently studying abroad can also apply for Erasmus Study and Placement Mobility by sending their application documents via email to the International Office. The exchange ones who will be studying abroad in the exam date are also allowed to use their previous exam result and should submit this request with a signed petition.
  8.        Erasmus grant is only valid for the mobilities in the member countries of the European Union, however the ones occur in the program countries which are not the member of the EU (Iceland, Norway, Switzerland) and the third countries which are on the road to EU membership (Montenegro, Albania, and Serbia) are not granted.
  9.        Erasmus+ Information Session will be held on February 7, 2017 at 14:00 and February16, 2017 at 10:00 in the Fatma Altınbaş Conference Hall. Applicants can have more information on the Erasmus+ Program by attending this event.
  10.    The students with dissabilities can have extra grant in case of submitting the proof of their condition. For further details, please contact the International Office.

English Proficiency Exam for the Newly Registered Students

To the attention of the foreign students who are newly registered for the Spring 2015-2016 Term,

English Proficiency Exam for the newly registered students for the Spring 2015-2016 Term will be held on 25 January 2016 in the Mahmutbey Campus. The proficiency exam consists of two stages. Students are required to be in their classes 30 minutes before the exam with their photo IDs, pencils and erasers. Class lists for the exam will be announced on the bulletin boards of the -1st and 1st floors.

To the attention of the foreign students who are newly registered for the Spring 2015-2016 Term,

English Proficiency Exam for the newly registered students for the Spring 2015-2016 Term will be held on 28 January 2016 in the Mahmutbey Campus. The proficiency exam consists of two stages. Students are required to be in their classes 30 minutes before the exam with their photo IDs, pencils and erasers. Class lists for the exam will be announced on the bulletin boards of the -1st and 1st floors.
